Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in a series of actions have arrested 04 drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
A Police Spokesperson said that in Ganderbal, during the investigation of Case FIR No. 12/2023, the arrested drug peddler disclosed that one person namely Sameer Gul Nayik son of Gh Mohd Nayik resident of Gadoora Ganderbal has hoarded narcotic substance in his residential house. Acting on this information, Ganderbal Police raided the specific location and during search huge quantity of contraband substance including Cannabis Powder was recovered & seized on the spot in presence of Ist Class Magistrate Ganderbal. The accused person was also arrested in the instant case & further investigation is in progress.
“Meanwhile, Officers from Police Station Lar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS at a checkpoint established at SKUAST road Benhama intercepted a suspicious person identified as Shams-u-din Khan son of Bahdur Khan resident of Benhama Lar. During search, huge quantity of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police station where he remains in custody”, he said.
“Moreover, in Kulgam, a police party from Police Station Devsar led by SHO Devsar Insp. Jazib Mohammad at a checkpoint established at Sopat Berigam crossing intercepted 02 suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Yawer Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Jabar Sheikh and Shahbaz Ahmad Shah son of Gulzar Ahmad Shah, both residents of Churat. During search, officers were able to recover 06Kgs of Poppy Straw and 10grams of Charas from their possession. Both the accused persons were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.”
Subsequently, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
