Srinagar, Jan 11: In a significant development, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Thursday recovered four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) discreetly placed inside tiffin boxes along with two dozen bullets from AK series assault rifles in the Rajouri district of Jammu region, officials said.
A CRPF officer told Rising Kashmir that paramilitary forces initiated a cordon and search operation (CASO) based on intelligence inputs provided by the force’s intelligence wing in the Jammu region. The operation was carried out in the Hayatpur-Manjakot area by the troops of C Company from the 237th battalion of the CRPF, in collaboration with local police, he said.
“The recovered items included the four IEDs concealed within tiffin boxes, 23 live bullets compatible with AK assault rifles, a wireless set, and a tape recorder,” the official said.
Over the past two years, the Poonch and Rajouri districts have witnessed many terrorist incidents following which Centre has deployed CRPF units in the area to fortify the security grid, complemented by operational units of the Army and the Rashtriya Rifles (RR).
