Srinagar, Sep 8: “Article 370 is above all and is our biggest issue. I have complete faith that a time will come, God willing, when we will achieve what we call a federal solution. It will take shape in some form, God willing,” Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference president Sajad Gani Lone said on Sunday.
Reacting to the claims of the former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah who said that jailed leaders were being fielded against him, Lone said it was time for Omar Abdullah and his party to reflect on their approach, particularly the tendency to label anyone who opposes them as either “an agency man” or aligned with the BJP.
Addressing workers in Kupwara, the PC chief questioned the logic behind such accusations, asking what the solution was if anyone who stood against them was automatically discredited. “Omar Abdullah must focus on what they can do for the people instead of slandering their opponents. Undermining opponents’ credibility and attacking their character is not a commendable strategy, especially given Omar Abdullah’s past association with the BJP, including his tenure as the Foreign Minister,” he said.
Recalling the human rights violations that occurred during Abdullah’s time in power, Sajad questioned whether those events had been forgotten. He said that after the Babri Masjid incident, no prominent Muslim leader in India dared to align with the BJP, except for two leaders— Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah who were among the few who had previously collaborated with the BJP.
Despite significant communal unrest and widespread human rights violations across India, Omar Abdullah did not utter a word, he added
Lone also recalled the recent remarks by Devender Rana, a former BJP minister, saying, “Rana should answer for his past actions”.
