Srinagar, Sept 08: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who is also the party’s in-charge for J&K, on Sunday claimed that the “feudal” parties like the National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Congress have become nervous in the face of impending defeat in the coming assembly elections.
Reacting strongly to the statement made by NC vice president Omar Abdullah that BJP has struck a deal with regional parties and independents to form the government in J&K, Chugh dismissed the remark, saying, “It is high time Omar Abdullah stop making baseless allegations to mislead the masses.”
“Omar Abdullah should stop making false allegations and focus on creating a proper agenda for his own party’s manifesto. The Abdullahs are known for provoking the emotions of the people of J&K, misleading them and taking advantage of them, rather than focusing on the development of the region and the welfare of its people,” he said.
Chugh reiterated that the Modi government is committed to restoring statehood for J&K and achieving lasting peace in the region, something these parties have never genuinely worked toward.
The BJP leader accused the NC, PDP and Congress of consistently fuelling insurgency and unrest and preventing J&K from prospering under the guise of autonomy. “Their actions have only served their vested interests, benefiting their families while limiting the people of J&K to a narrow, selfish agenda,” he said.
“The NC, Congress and PDP are anti-national and dynastic parties. The BJP is clear in its commitment to ensuring that Jammu and Kashmir is freed from the influence of parties that support terrorism and separatism,” he said
Chugh said the BJP has consistently emphasized its commitment to the development and integration of Jammu and Kashmir. Forming alliances with regional parties and independents is a strategic approach to achieving these developmental goals more effectively, he said.
He said the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ focuses on the overall development of J&K, including the empowerment of the poor, farmers, youth, and women. “We are confident of forming the government in J&K,” he added. (KNS)
