Ganderbal, Sept 08: The National Conference candidate, Mian Mehr Ali, undertook a door-to-door campaign in Tehsil Gund of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for the assembly election campaign.
Addressing a public gathering in the Gagangeer area, he urged people to ensure a landslide victory for him so that he could work for the welfare of the area.
In his speech, Ali mentioned that when work on the Z-Morh Tunnel began in Gagangeer, his father, Mian Altaf Ahmad, insisted that work would not proceed unless the local people were given jobs in the tunnel. He shared that the construction company’s owner had informed him that they did not begin work until 105 people were employed at Mian Altaf Ahmad’s request.
Mehr said that Mian Altaf Ahmad had undertaken development work in the area and provided employment to the people. He appealed to the public to support him, promising that once elected, he would stand by them.
He expressed confidence that the National Conference government would be formed and that if he succeeded, large-scale development would take place, with his doors always open to the people of the region.
