Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 05 drug peddlers in separate actions besides, booked 04 drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.

A police party of Police Station Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Saloosa Kreeri arrested a drug peddler identified as Adil Assadullah son of Assadullah Mir resident of Kawchek Kreeri. During search, 50 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.

In another checkpoint established at Hamrey Pattan, a police party of PP Palhallan arrested a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Maqbool Dar resident of Naidkhai Sumbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 500 grams of Charas from his possession. Another Police party of PP Palhallan at a checkpoint near TCP Hyderbeigh arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered 106 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been identified as Mohd Yaqoob Mir son of Abdul Aziz Mir resident of Nilah Palpora & Liyaqat Gaffar Rather son of Abdul Gaffar Rather resident of Pakipora.

Similarly, a police party of PP Kungamdara at a checkpoint established at Goom Ahmadpora Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Maroof Bashir Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Bardrab Beerwah Budgam. During checking, 50 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.

Subsequently, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and all the drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.

Moreover, Police booked notorious drug smugglers namely Sageer Ahmad Mir @Sata son of Abdul Rasheed Mir resident of Janwarpora Sopore, Bilal Ahmad Bhat @Bilal son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat resident of Durhama Wagoora & Manzoor Ahmad Sada @Manzoor Auto son of Mohammad Subhan Sada resident of Sada Mohalla Pattan under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

The booked drug peddlers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.

Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against these drug peddlers and they were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pattan, Kreeri Wagoora and other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
