First Snow Skiing Course At Kargil By IISM Gulmarg Concludes With Enthusiasm

Srinagar, Feb 21: The first Snow Skiing Course of 14 days for the season 2024-25 at village Umba, Sankoo, Kargil concluded Friday with a great enthusiasm making a significant milestone in promoting winter sports in Kargil, Ladakh.
The Institute conducts two snow skiing courses every winter in Kargil, Ladakh. The first batch of snow skiing course was fully subscribed with a total of 40 students coming from all over India including some from the Kargil, Ladakh. The trainees participated enthusiastically and underwent rigorous skiing training under the watchful eyes of the well qualified instructors of IISM.
During the duration of the course, the students learned various skiing techniques such as kick turn, snow plough, snow plough turn, traverse/uphill swing, long parallel turn, short parallel turn, downhill swing and basic swing. All the participants showcased their skiing skills, reflecting their dedication and progress. Col I S Thapa, SM, VSM, MID, the Principal, IISM graced the occasion as the chief guest and distributed awards to the top performer’s along with the certificates to all successful participants. He applauded the efforts of all the trainees and acknowledged the hard work of all the instructors and administrative staff in making the course successful. The institute aims to nurture skiing talent in Kargil, Ladakh and athletes to excel in winter sports. The successful of this course paves the way for more such training program in future in Kargil Ladakh.
