Ganderbal, Aug 21: A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday morning in the village of Ladhuna, near Tulmulla in the Ganderbal district, resulting in the destruction of a wood-cutting machine and large quantities of wood, with losses estimated in the lakhs of rupees.s
According to local residents, the fire erupted at a sawmill in Ladhuna during the early hours. The flames, fueled by the wood stored around the machine, spread rapidly, engulfing the entire mill in a matter of minutes. The fire created panic in the vicinity as thick smoke billowed into the sky.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services and Local Police was promptly alerted and dispatched to the scene. Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the blaze, but the sawmill and its valuable wood stock were reduced to ashes before the fire could be contained.
