Farooq, Mehbooba, Mir, Thakur, others greet people on Shab-e-Meraj

Pray for peace, prosperity, communal harmony in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 27: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, senior Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Altaf Thakur, PDP leader Arif Laigaroo and others on Monday extended greetings to people on the annual observance of Shab-e-Meraj.
In a statement, Dr Farooq said the venerated night of Meraj marks the ascension of the holy Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) towards the heavens. “The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was gifted with five daily prayers equal to the reward of fifty daily prayers by Allah on the auspicious night. The Meraj is the great gift of Allah to Muslims; it is the most blessed journey of human history,” he said.
Abdullah said through this exalted journey, the Holy Messenger of Islam (PBUH) taught humanity the merits of knowledge and how crucial it is to unveil the truths of nature. “The journey of the Prophet (PBUH) has many lessons for us, the chief among them is the importance of knowledge, therefore Muslims should strive towards excellence in knowledge, and the quest for enlightenment. I extend my warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion, may the blessed night foster unity and consciousness among Muslims. May Almighty pardon our excesses and accept our prayers, and supplications. May the blessed night act as the harbinger of peace, prosperity, tranquillity and communal harmony in J&K,” he added.
Among others, Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi also extended greetings to the people on the occasion.
Mehbooba Mufti in her heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir said, “This blessed night marks the divine journey of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), an event that symbolises the ultimate connection between the Creator and His creation.”
“Meraj-un-Nabi (SAW) is not just a miraculous event; it is a profound reminder of the spiritual elevation, moral integrity, and the significance of faith in our lives. As we commemorate this sacred event, let us pledge to embody the teachings of the Prophet (SAW) in our daily lives. Let us reflect on the significance of knowledge humility, and service to humanity as taught by the Holy Quran and exemplified by the life of the Prophet (SAW).”
Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader & AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir in his message said, “Shab-e-Meraj reminds us of the unique and pious journey of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), an occasion which connected the Prophet with the Almighty Allah, who rewarded the Ummah with countless mercy during this auspicious night. While we observe Shab e Mehraj, we all need to go through the teachings (Sunnah) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and adopt these in our lives fully, which is the only way forward to achieve spirituality and live a dignified and pious life.”
Mir added, “Shab-e-Meraj shall continue to inspire Muslim Ummah, leading them at the path of peace, humility and spirituality. I respectfully extend my heartiest Shab-e-Meraj greetings to Muslim Ummah and hope that this auspicious night will be the harbinger of peace, stability and prosperity of people.”
Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Altaf Thakur in his greetings said, “This auspicious day commemorates the miraculous night journey and ascension of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), a profound event symbolising divine grace and spiritual elevation.”
He expressed hope that the occasion would inspire unity, harmony, and peace among all communities. He highlighted the importance of reflecting on the teachings of the Prophet (SAW) and fostering compassion, love, and brotherhood in society. “As we celebrate this divine event, let us pray for the prosperity, well-being, and happiness of everyone, and strive to follow the path of righteousness and humanity,” Thakur added.
PDP leader Arif Laigaroo, greeting the people, said, “Meraj Aalam is a very unique and pious occasion refreshing the memory of the Journey of heavens by Prophet Muhamad (SAW) during this night. It symbolises the importance of five-time prayers and various other blessings which the Almighty Allah bestowed upon the Muslim Ummah during this night.”
Laigaroo urged people to follow the religious teachings of the holy Prophet of Islam (SAW) and seek forgiveness, solace and better health for the entire humankind by praying on the blessed night of Mehraj Ul Alam.
The observance of Mehraj-e-Alam is marked by prayers, spiritual gatherings and acts of charity, bringing together people in celebration of faith and devotion.
