Chandigarh, Dec 05: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday came down heavily on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal for seeing a conspiracy angle in the assassination attempt on former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, saying the former Delhi Chief Minister was trying to deflect the gravity of the law and order situation in Punjab.
Chugh in a statement said, “In fact, Kejriwal is trying to cover up the dismal failure of the AAP government to maintain law and order in Punjab following which hardcore radicals and gangsters have been having a field day in the state.”
The BJP leader alleged that Kejriwal had spent days and nights with militants in Punjab during his election campaign in 2017. “Kejriwal’s connection with militants was exposed during his Moga visit when he stayed at the house of a militant,” he alleged. “It exposed his and his party’s strong links with the Punjab militants.”
Chugh said Punjab today is shocked by the behind-the-stage activities of the Bhagwant Mann government which is “guided by Kejriwal’s vision of supporting gangsters and militants”.
He reiterated his demand for a CBI or NIA investigation into the incident to expose the failures of the AAP government in maintaining law and order in Punjab and causing a threat to even those who have Z-plus security. “I wonder what would be the fate of the common man if such conspiracies were allowed to grow in Punjab under the AAP government rule,” he said.
