Srinagar, Aug 22: An exposure visit for over 80 progressive farmers from district Srinagar to SKUAST-Kashmir, Shalimar, was organized by the FTEC Ganderbal (Department of Agriculture) in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir. The event saw the participation of officers from various departments and scientists from the university.
The visiting farmers were welcomed at the Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir. Professor Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director of Extension, briefed the group on the latest agricultural technologies developed by the university. He emphasized the importance of adopting these advancements and encouraged post-harvest management practices to maximize the value of their crops. Prof. Makhdoomi also highlighted the need for environmental conservation, urging farmers to use fewer chemical pesticides and follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to combat climate change.
He praised the coordination efforts of officers like Dr. Shabir Ahmed Hashemi and Dr. Nusrat, who helped facilitate the visit. During the event, other experts, including Prof. Malik Mukhtiyar (Entomologist), Prof. Lyaqet Ali (Extension Specialist), and Prof. S.K. Raina (Soil Scientist), also addressed the farmers. The attendees later visited various research units at the university, where a range of agricultural technologies was showcased.
