Jammu, May 02: Panic gripped the Narwal area of Jammu City on Tuesday morning after an explosion took place at a petrol pump near the Narwal Mandi. However, no one was injured.
A police team and the team from Fire Services Department immediately rushed to the spot after getting information about the explosion.
There were all kinds of speculations about the explosion, but the investigation revealed that the explosion took place inside the manhole of the petrol pump, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said.
“Initial investigation revealed that during the process of oil pumping under the manhole, there remains a pressure of oil vapours,” the SSP said, adding that the pressure of these oil vapours caused the explosion.
Meanwhile, the explosion reminded the people of the twin blasts that took place at Narwal a couple of months back and they started running here and there in a panic, as nobody knew what exactly has happened, some eyewitnesses said.
The situation became clear after a couple of hours when it became clear that the explosion was neither a blast nor it was due to some short circuit.
