Srinagar, Oct 30: The Srinagar District Roller Skating Championship, held at the Radpora Skating Rink in Downtown Srinagar on October 29th and 30th, 2023, proved to be a rollercoaster of thrilling and exciting moments as young skaters showcased their incredible talent. The event witnessed heart-pounding 500 to 1000-meter races in various categories, leaving the crowd of spectators and parents cheering on in sheer excitement.
Organized by the J&K Roller Skating Association (Kashmir Wing) under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, the championship saw around 70 skilled skaters, both boys and girls, participating from different age groups.
Ashraf Dijoo, Secretary and Senior Coach of the J&K Roller Skating Association (Kashmir Wing), played a pivotal role in overseeing the entire championship, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of the event. Dijoo, one of the most senior roller-skating coaches in the region, has been instrumental in training numerous young skaters and introducing roller skating to Downtown Srinagar back in 2015. Many of his proteges have gone on to excel at the state and national levels.
The Chief Guest of the event, Shaqat Shafi, Manager of J&K Sports Council, Radpora, and the Guest of Honor, M. Yasin, graced the occasion. The prize distribution ceremony, presided over by Mr. Shafi, recognized the exceptional performances of the participants in various categories.

In 5-7 Girls Category: Ilma Naqash (Gold), Khadija Javaid (Silver), Alima Asif (Bronze)
In 7-9 Boys Category: Ibrahim Pindo (Gold), Sheikh Mohammad (Silver), Mohammad Zain (Bronze)
In 7-9 Girls Category: Huma Shabir (Gold), Maisha Feroz (Silver), Armeen Sheikh (Bronze)
In 9-11 Category: Zuhaib Javaid (Bronze), Hooria Showkat (Gold), Qurat ul Ain (Silver), Aleena Irfan (Bronze)
In 11-14 Category: M. Diyan (Gold), Omaik Bagdai (Silver), Mohammad Amaan Bagdadi (Bronze)
In 11-14 Girls Category: Qurat ul Ain (Gold), Barira Showkat (Silver), Asifa Asif (Bronze)
In 14-17 Category: Noman Bazaz (Gold), Baseer Aijaz (Silver), Dabeer Wani (Bronze)
In 17-19 Category: Mujtaba Wani (Gold) Saulleh Mattoo (Silver) in the 1000mtrs race
The championship concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by M. Ashraf Dijoo, urging parents to encourage their children to engage in sports as a means to secure their future and steer clear of harmful influences, such as drugs.
