Jalandhar, July 05: The kickboxing team representing Jammu and Kashmir has returned to a hero’s welcome after a successful campaign at the WAKO INDIA National Kickboxing Championship 2023. The championship, held from July 1st to 5th at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab, saw the participation of 51 players from the state.
Under the guidance of team coaches Danish Padha and Monika Bhan, the Jammu and Kashmir team showcased their exceptional skills and determination, bringing home an impressive medal haul. The event, organized by the Punjab Kickboxing Association under the auspices of WAKO India Kickboxing Federation, witnessed fierce competition from kickboxers across the country.
The team’s outstanding performance was celebrated with enthusiasm as they clinched a total of 5 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals across various events. The General Secretary of the Kickboxing Association Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Abhishek Jain, along with Sudarshan Singh, a Kickboxing National Referee and state senior coach, warmly welcomed the victorious team upon their return. They congratulated the medal winners and extended their blessings to all participants.
During the reception, Ajay Verma, the Managing Director of Nice Gem and President of the Jammu District Kickboxing Association, lauded the association’s efforts in promoting the sport in Jammu and Kashmir. He pledged continued support to further develop and popularize kickboxing in the region.
