Jammu, May 01: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) Regional Office in Jammu has taken significant strides in providing social security to employees and their families by issuing 35 new Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) in April 2024. Together with the Regional Office in Srinagar, a total of 769 PPOs have been released, reaffirming the commitment to support retired individuals and their dependents.
Rizwan Uddin, the Regional P.F. Commissioner for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, personally distributed the PPOs to the pensioners, highlighting the importance of pension as a crucial form of social security during times of need and eventualities.
The EPFO Regional Office in Jammu has actively initiated the process of settling pension claims directly from the offices of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, pension benefits are being disbursed even to widows and family members of deceased members, including cases where the pension contribution equivalent to one month’s pension has been remitted by the employer.
Under the leadership of Rizwan Uddin, the EPFO team in Jammu, comprising officers and officials like Ajit Kumar Mishra, Pritpal Singh, and Dr. Paramjeet Singh, has processed over a dozen pension claims, ensuring timely disbursement of benefits to the beneficiaries, including family members of deceased employees.
Special emphasis has been placed on the settlement of death claims, resulting in the processing of multiple claims and providing necessary benefits to the claimants. During the distribution of pension certificates, beneficiaries such as Mrs. Rajni Raina, Mr. Bittu Ram, Mrs. Koushalya Devi (widow of Baldev Raj), Ashwani Kumar, and Aneel Kumar Misri received their respective amounts, highlighting the tangible support provided by EPFO to pensioners in the region.
It’s important to note that monthly pension benefits are available to members who have ten or more years of service under the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995. Eligible members can also avail Superannuation Pension after attaining the age of 58 by applying online through their UAN Login. Additionally, monthly pension provisions are extended to the families of EPS members in case of the member’s unfortunate demise while in service.
The pensioners who visited EPFO Jammu expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the efforts made by the team in disbursing their monthly pension and arrears before the close of April 2024. This proactive approach underscores EPFO’s commitment to ensuring social security for all eligible members and their families in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
