Enhancing Lung Health Management: GMC Srinagar organises Prog on latest Diagnostic Techniques

Srinagar, Oct 26: One-day “Continuing Medical Education”, (CME) program on advanced lung function testing was organized by the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.

The program featured comprehensive discussions on advanced diagnostic techniques, such as Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO), lung oscillometry, body plethysmography, and bronchoprovocation testing, all of which are crucial for accurate diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases.

The CME was organized under the patronage of Prof. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal and Dean GMC Srinagar, with Dr. Naveed Nazir Shah serving as the Organizing Secretary, and Dr. Khurshid Ahmad and Dr. Suriya Farooq as Co-organizers.

Guest speakers included distinguished experts Dr. Sundeep Salvi and Dr. Deesha Ghorpade, who shared their insights on the latest advancements in lung function testing and respiratory medicine.
Professor Dr. Iffat Hassan, Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar, while speaking on the occasion commended the organizers for hosting a vital event, emphasizing the importance of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.

These programs not only enhance participants’ skills and knowledge but also provide a platform for sharing expertise and experiences, She said.
CME aims to benefit medical professionals with the knowledge of the latest advancements in their field, network with peers, and improve patient outcomes, she added.

Such events foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence in healthcare, Dr Iffat emphasized.

“By supporting CME programs, GMC Srinagar demonstrates its commitment to excellence in medical education and healthcare besides inspires medical professionals to prioritize ongoing learning and professional growth”, she maintained.

Dr. Naveed Nazir Shah, Professor and Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, and Dr. M. Yousuf, Assistant Professor of Respiratory Medicine, delivered informative lectures that further enhanced participants’ understanding of advanced pulmonary diagnostics.

On the occasion, hands-on workshop on advanced lung function testing was also conducted, allowing attendees to gain practical experience with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, medical students, and healthcare professionals, who engaged in discussions to improve their expertise in lung health management. The CME marked a significant contribution towards advancing respiratory care practices in the region.
