Srinagar, Mar 08: Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, R.R. Swain on Friday said that the enemy’s ability to inflict harm has been limited now; people should also remain cautious against fear tactics.
Talking to media persons on the side-lines of 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship’s concluding ceremony in Srinagar, DGP said while the enemy’s actual capability to cause harm is restricted and they deliberately utilize fear to instill insecurity among the people.
“From the beginning, I have advocated that the ability of the adversary to cause harm has always been limited. It was not what it was showing. But, they work on the basis of fear. They publish the names of four people who then lose their sleep because of fear,” DGP Swain said.
Swain said the adversary works on fear and asked the people to be cautious.
“This system works on fear like the fear of dogs. A dog who barks does not necessarily bite, but people get afraid because of that barking. It is not easy to tackle, the people need to understand it and be cautious about it,” he said.
DGP Swain said both police and security agencies also need to stay on the course to maintain peace.
Acknowledging that addressing this complex issue is challenging, he highlighted the importance of the police and security agencies remaining steadfast in their commitment to maintaining peace.
“We will take steps to rectify our mistakes, increase our commitment level, and demonstrate sincerity. Our focus is on implementing a strategic approach and assessing its effectiveness in the overall context,” he said.
DGP Swain said that despite attempts to derail us, we are resolute in staying on our path and reaching our destination.
“We look for overall transformation by 2025, envisioning a scenario where anti-national elements would be silenced through persistent efforts and strategic measures, and people will know the difference” he added.
The All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 concluded with a vibrant and colourful closing ceremony celebrating the achievements of participating police personnel. Advisor to Lt Governor R.R Bhatnagar who graced the event as the Chief guest.
DGP J&K R.R. Swain(IPS),Representative of All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB),Mahesh Dixit (IPS)along with other officers distributed trophies and medals among the winners and runner up teams and individual sports persons.
Pertinent to mention here, on March 04, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had inaugurated the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 (Men & Women) in Srinagar. A total of 30 teams (20 Men & 10 Women) comprising about 500 players and 60 Technical officials, Team Managers are participating in the tournament.
