Srinagar, Oct 06: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Thursday said it has proposed the government to shift conducting of all exams from 1st to 9th standard to March.
Besides, the department also said that the winter vacations will be announced only after the weather situation depreciates.
Director of School Education Kashmir, Tassaduq Hussain Mir during the sidelines of an event at SKICC said, “As of now, we have conducted all exams of the lower classes and the T2 exams upto 8th standard probably will be conducted in March-2023.”
“We have proposed the government to conduct all exams in March and most probably, the official orders can be issued any time—today, tomorrow or in a weeks’ time,” Mir said.
He said, “The winter holidays are dependent upon the weather conditions. If the weather conditions permit us to continue the academics till the end of December, we will continue. But if the weather is minus degrees, then we will take the call accordingly.”
The director also said, “Our schools re-opened after a gap of two years and we are trying to compensate for the maximum academic losses. Because of the COVID-19, there were a lot of learning gaps and we are trying to bridge it. We are doing remedial teaching.”
He added that so far the department has filled 80 percent of the gaps and 20 percent are yet to be filled.
“We will be doing our best to complete it,” the official said.
On asking about the Hand Mouth and Foot disease (HMF), Mir said “As of the situation is under control. We are receiving inputs regularly and the infected students are being isolated immediately. There is no need to panic as we are closely monitoring the situation.”
