Srinagar, Dec 23: The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbagh Singh on Friday said that Police will deal with the challenge of drug menace firmly, dedication and with steadfastness.
Addressing the reporters on the sidelines of inauguration of 18th Martyrs Memorial football tournament, DGP Singh said they have to deal with drug menace just like we are doing with terrorism.
“This action needs to be intensified and people also have to cooperate with the police,” he said.
The police chief said terrorists are trying to violate the cordial atmosphere in the Valley by issuing threats to people.
“It is shameful for those who are issuing threatening letters to citizens here and want to create a wedge among communities, thereby derailing the peaceful environment,” he said.
DGP Singh said some people are not happy with the peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir and I hope that people will give a befitting reply to them.
“The way police is dealing with the challenge of drugs trade in Jammu and Kashmir is beneficial for the society and people should also stand with them so that this menace is dealt with firmly and steadfastness,” he said.
He also inaugurated the 18th Martyrs Memorial football tournament here. He said 40 teams will take part in the event organised to pay tributes to personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
