Udhampur, Apr 09: Priya Sethi, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former minister, highlighted the Modi government’s efforts to promote tourism and foster overall development during her campaign in Udhampur in support of Dr Jitendra Singh, the party’s candidate for the Udahmpur, Doda and Kathua Lok Sabha seat.
Sethi mentioned the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to elevating the union territory to the pinnacle of development, on par with the most advanced states in the nation. She underscored the seriousness of the government towards bringing unprecedented development to Jammu, which had suffered due to Kashmir-centric policies for more than 70 years.
Sethi stated that people across Jammu and Kashmir, like other parts of the country, believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown genuine concern for the development and welfare of over 140 crore people in the country. She hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ‘Man of Development in India’ for his tireless efforts over the last decade, which have led to numerous mega projects in health, education, road, air, train, and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP leader praised Dr Jitendra Singh for his “exceptional dedication and commitment” towards governance, saying he set new benchmarks in addressing the needs of the masses. She lauded Dr Singh’s significant contribution to the development landscape of the Union Territory, emphasising his position as a “son of the soil” and his pivotal role in the PMO, which is a matter of immense pride for every resident of the Union Territory.
The former minister highlighted Dr Jitendra’s transformative impact on the Udhamour, Doda and Kathua Lok Sabha constituencies over the past decade, commending his relentless efforts in spearheading massive developmental initiatives that have fundamentally altered the socio-economic fabric of these regions.
Sethi listed several developmental works in the Udhampur constituency over the past 10 years, including the Udhampur railway station named after Captain Tushar Mahajan, the Devika river rejuvenation project, the first radio station in Udhampur, and various hydel power projects. She mentioned the sanctioning of a Rs 90 crore homoeopathy college in Kathua’s Jasrota, the development of road and rail networks, the Shahpur Kandi barrage, and the establishment of airfields in Kishtwar and Bhaderwah, which has emerged as the lavender capital of India.
Pawan Khajuria, Vice President of the BJP, J&K, praised Dr Jitendra Singh’s exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people, emphasizing his visionary approach and tireless commitment to public service.
Arun Gupta, District President of BJP, Udhampur, expressed confidence in the victory of BJP candidates in the 2024 general elections and the return of Narendra Modi as PM for the third consecutive term, stating that the nation aspires to become a Vishwa Guru.
Nihsa Mahajan, District Vice President of BJP, Udhampur, urged the party cadre to reach the doorsteps of the people with the programs and policies of the Modi government, ensuring the resounding victory of BJP candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
