Udhampur, May 05: The Panthers Party, led by Harsh Dev Singh, has rebranded itself as the J&K National Panthers Party (INDIA) and adopted the symbol of ‘Truck.’
The move, as per the party’s statement issued here, came in response to the Election Commission of India’s “seizure” of its symbol.
Harsh Dev, addressing a press conference in Udhampur, said the Panthers Party headed by Harsh Dev Singh has now been re-christened as J&K National Panthers Party (INDIA) and has been allotted the symbol of ‘Truck’ by the Election Commission of India. He vowed to confront the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alleged conspiracies, labelling their politics as deceitful and destructive.
Singh accused the BJP of losing public trust through a series of betrayals, citing the downgrading of J&K to a Union Territory without legislative approval and the imposition of draconian laws. He criticised the BJP’s administration for introducing measures such as the proliferation of toll plazas, expansion of liquor shops, and the introduction of property tax, which he claimed had burdened the people and fostered corruption.
Highlighting the plight of the people amidst rising prices and inadequate infrastructure, Harsh Dev condemned the BJP’s alleged extortion tactics through increased taxes and tolls. He specifically criticised the installation of toll plazas in the Jammu region, which he claimed had further strained the populace.
The NPP (INDIA) chairman also denounced the opening of liquor shops against public opposition, particularly in religious cities, which he argued had sparked widespread resentment. He criticised the government’s proposal to install smart meters amid ongoing power and water crises, suggesting it was insensitive to the people’s suffering.
Asserting that the BJP had failed to fulfill its promises and was now resorting to divisive politics, Singh called for the party’s dismissal and urged the public to support the J&K National Panthers Party (INDIA) to make the region “BJP Mukt”.
