Srinagar,Sep 06: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zone Haba Kadal received a significant boost today as dozens of National Conference (NC) workers officially joined the PDP in a grand event held at the party’s headquarters in Srinagar. The event was presided over by PDP President, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, who welcomed the new members into the party fold. The gathering was also attended by PDP State Secretary and Habba Kadal constituency candidate, Arif Laigroo, as well as Zonal President, Sameer ul Jameel, who, along with the zonal committee, expressed their appreciation for the workers’ decision to join the PDP. Laigroo highlighted the growing support for the PDP in the Haba Kadal constituency and reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing the core issues of the region, particularly skill development, health, and education. Prominent political figures such as Lateef Ahmad Bhat, former in-charge of Eidgah, Nisar Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Shah, Javed Ahmad Rather, and Bilal Ahmad Gola, Bilal Naikoo were among the notable entrants to the PDP during the event. Their decision to switch allegiances from the National Conference to the PDP is seen as a significant political shift in the region. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in the ongoing political scenario. She stressed that the PDP’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on resolving people’s issues and safeguarding their rights, continues to attract support from across the political spectrum. This development marks an important moment for the PDP in the lead-up to the upcoming elections, especially in the Haba Kadal constituency. The newly inducted members voiced their dissatisfaction with the National Conference’s policies and expressed their faith in the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti and the PDP’s agenda for progress. The event concluded with a call for collective efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and continue its work for the betterment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
