Pulwama, July 28: The District Pulwama Squash Championship, organized by the Pulwama District Squash Rackets Association in collaboration with the J&K Squash Rackets Association under the My Youth My Pride Initiative by J&K Sports Council, concluded on Friday at the state-of-the-art Squash Complex, Gindun Stadium. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across District Pulwama, showcasing exceptional talent in various categories.
The championship featured intense competition in the Under 13 Boys & Girls, Under 15 Boys & Girls, Under 17 Boys & Girls, Men & Women, and Team Event Under 15 Boys & Girls categories. The Squash Complex, equipped with back glass Squash Courts and designed to accommodate spectators and media, provided an excellent setting for the thrilling matches.
In the concluding ceremony, Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad, and Shakir Yousuf presided as Guests of Honor, while Haris Nazir, Yawar Gani, Aqib Syed, and Snobar Majeed graced the event as Special Guests. The Office Bearers & Members of J&K Squash Rackets association were also present, adding to the event’s prestige.
Hilal Ahmad, the Chief Guest for the District Pulwama Squash Championship, extended his congratulations to all medal winners and appreciated the organizers for conducting the championship with professionalism. He pledged full support from J&K Sports Council to promote and develop Squash as a sport, emphasizing the dynamic leadership of Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul.
The closing ceremony saw the Chief Guest distributing medals and trophies among the deserving winners, runners-up, and third-place individuals/teams. The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council sponsored the championship, ensuring its successful execution.
The participants unitedly raised their voices, chanting the slogan, “Say No To Drugs, Yes To Sports,” reaffirming the importance of sports in building a healthier and drug-free society.
The District Pulwama Squash Championship’s successful conclusion marks a significant milestone in promoting sports and nurturing young talent in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
