Srinagar, July 25: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat IAS, Director Sericulture, commenced a three-day Skill Development Training Program on Thursday aimed at enhancing human resource development in J&K under Silk SAMAGRA-II and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The event was marked by the unveiling of the “Silk Mark Journal” and the “Resham Booklets,” for dissemination of knowledge and best practices being adopted in Sericulture Industry in contemporary times. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Special Guest of Honor, Dr. M. Maheshwari, Director Central Sericultural Research & Training Institute (CSR&TI), Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Pampore.
During the program, rearing kits were distributed among progressive farmers of Srinagar and Budgam Districts which demonstrates the department’s commitment to empowering the sericulture community.
On the occasion the Director Sericulture J&K stressed upon all the stakeholders to leverage the benefits of the schemes and facilities of the department which include technical support and expertise, disinfectants for disease free silkworm rearing, rearing tool kits, financial assistance for constructing of rearing sheds in a phased manner etc.
The Silkworm Rearers and farmers present on the occasion also shared their views and thanked the Director Sericulture J&K for his relentless efforts, commitment and openness which shall go a long way for the overall development of this Sector.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat urged all officers to expedite the submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for onward submission to the Government for the establishment of community rearing halls across J&K. This project aims to facilitate the landless and marginal farmers to undertake Silkworm Rearing under close supervision of the department which is construed as a vital for sustainable growth and development of the sericulture sector across J&K.
The program highlighted the department’s dedication to fostering a robust and progressive sericulture industry through continuous support for human development initiatives through these trainings.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS Director Sericulture Dev. Department J&K expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary to Government Agriculture Production Department and the Member Secretary CSB for their full support to strengthen Sericulture Development Department through these efforts being exerted to bring back the glory of Sericulture Industry in J&K.
On the occasion the Director, CSR&TI Pampore has assured of full support to the Sericulture Department and the silkworm Rearers and farmers. She has also highlighted the importance of skill development training programmes and has hoped that these programmes will be organized in future as well so that the silkworm rearing could be undertaken on scientific lines in order to boost the Silk Production in J&K.
