Dir Sericulture conducts field visit to Baramulla

Baramulla, Dec 03: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K, conducted an extensive field visit to North Kashmir’s Baramulla district to inspect various developmental projects undertaken by the department.
The visit underscored the department’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and boosting sericulture activities in the region.
During the visit, Mr. Bhat evaluated the progress of the construction of the Silkworm Crop Improvement Laboratory at the Basic Seed Station,
Mirgund. He reviewed the ongoing work and urged the executing agency to expedite the construction to ensure its timely completion. Highlighting the significance of the laboratory, he stated that it would play a pivotal role in advancing silkworm rearing practices and enhancing the quality of cocoon crop. “The completion of this laboratory is essential for achieving our objectives in sericulture development,” Mr. Bhat emphasized.
The Director also inspected the construction of mulberry leaf chambers at the Basic Seed Station, Mirgund. He instructed the Manager, Seed, to ensure that the construction adheres strictly to the approved dimensions and standards. Furthermore, he visited various facilities, including mulberry nurseries, farms, silkworm seed units, and the office of the
Manager, Seed, at the station.
Mr. Bhat while interacting with the officers and field functionaries of the
Sericulture Department, issued on-the-spot instructions to address challenges effectively and to expedite the developmental works on war footing. He encouraged the staff to work with dedication and commitment, underscoring their role in improving work culture and ensuring punctuality in offices and farms for achieving the aims and objectives of the department effectively.
The visit reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the sericulture sector in Jammu & Kashmir and ensure the timely execution of critical projects that benefit silkworm farmers and the industry at large.
