Bandipora, Oct 30: In a move to fortify healthcare services, North Kashmir’s Bandipora District Hospital has rolled out night theatre services to set a stage for round-the-clock patient care in the near future.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the theatre will operate three days a week, subject to staffing limitations, with plans for full-time operation contingent on addressing staffing concerns
He said that the initiative will elevate patient services and will curtail the need for referrals which will ultimately alleviate the healthcare burden on the local population.
The decision to launch the night theatre service followed the recent visit of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to Bandipora during which he highlighted the pressing need to address shortfalls in night time patient care.
Notably, staffing shortages had posed challenges to patient care, particularly affecting the hospital’s ability to perform surgical procedures between 4 PM and 10 AM the following day which presented difficulties, especially for expectant mothers requiring caesarean deliveries during the night.
Mohd Abdullah, a local social activist said that this step would not only minimize the number of referrals but also prevent undue inconveniences for pregnant women who would now have access to better care.
The local residents while welcoming the move believe that the night theatre at the District Hospital will be a significant boost to healthcare facilities in the area which will bring better services and a sense of relief to the local population.
The inaugural Night Theatre service witnessed the successful completion of the first Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) surgery on Monday night.
