Jammu. Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has called for declaring Jammu as the permanent capital of J&K, bringing renowned places of Jammu division on the tourism map and allocating a separate budget for development.
The party’s J&K chief Manish Sahni while addressing an awareness programme here said, “Despite being larger than Kashmir in terms of area and population, the Jammu division has not been given justice in terms of assembly and Lok Sabha seats. This is the main reason that in the 77 years of the merger with India, no Hindu has been able to become the Chief Minister to date. BJP, which has been making political gains on the above issues, also did nothing during its rule.”
Sahni said the development of road and rail routes has caused a lot of damage to the trade and economy of Jammu. “By declaring Jammu as the permanent capital, the economy will get a boost, the allegations of discriminatory attitude towards Jammu will come to an end and the impact of weather and terrorist activities on administrative work can be avoided,” he said.
Sahni demanded the allocation of a separate budget for the development of tourist places in the Jammu division, seeking their place on the tourism map. The promise of development by identifying 38 tourist places in the Jammu division in 2021 is still incomplete, he said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader warned of agitation at the district level if there would be no positive signal from the government. It has appealed to the general public to support the campaign.
