The body of a girl, who drowned in river Jhelum in north Kashmir’s Baramulla town twenty seven days ago was recovered in Veerwan area on Thursday, officials said.
A police official said that a girl drowned in river Jhelum near Khanpora bridge in Baramulla on December 31,2022 and was untraceable till date.
Police said that soon after the incident, joint teams of SDRF, Police, army and locals launched a search operation to rescue the girl, but could not locate her for several days.
“The girl’s body was recovered in the Veerwan area of Baramulla, a kilometre downstream from the spot of drowning,” police said.
They said the girl’s body was retrieved by locals along with police this afternoon.
