Srinagar, July 20: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad Thursday chaired a meeting of District level Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) here at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex to review the implementation of various schemes aimed to strengthen Cooperative movement and deepening its reach to the grassroots level.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, who is also the Chairman District Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) took a detailed appraisal of the interventions being adopted to make Primary Cooperative Societies as vibrant entities of the economy.
A threadbare deliberation on different initiatives and key components was also held in detailed manner.
The DC reviewed the status about adoption of Model Bye Laws by PACS for making them Multipurpose and multi-Dimensional, status of hardware purchase, District Wise targets for establishing new multipurpose PACS o Primary Dairy/Fisheries Cooperative Societies in uncovered Panchayat villages, selection of PACS for the pilot projects for worlds largest Decentralized Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector, Identification of PACS for convergence with PM-KUSUM scheme for promoting green energy at Panchayat level.
On the occasion, the DC stressed on all the members of the Committee to work in coordinated efforts in order to achieve the targets of various initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation to further strengthen the cooperative ecosystem. The DC also laid thrust on intensifying IEC activities and ensuring active involvement of the PRI members to achieve the set targets in a time bound manner.
The DC was informed that the Ministry of Cooperation, Ministry of Electronics and IT, NABARD and CSC e-governance service India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) enabling PACS to undertake CSC services.
The chair was also informed that in order to diversify the business activities of PACS to make them vibrant economic entities various initiatives like opening up of Jan Aushadhi Kendra, LPG/ Petrol/ Diesel distribution outlets are being undertaken by Union/State Government for which all the 07 PACS registered in Srinagar District have adopted the model bye laws.
Besides, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, the meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Deputy Director Fisheries, Chief Agriculture Officer, DDM NABARD, Officers from J&K State Cooperative Bank, Cooperative Department, and other concerned.
