Anantnag qualifies for final, Ashaq Bhat shines in semi-final victory

Anantnag, July 20: In a thrilling encounter at the Inter-District Provincial level cricket tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Anantnag secured their spot in the final after defeating Kulgam in a gripping semi-final match held at Bhijbehra.
After winning the toss, Kulgam decided to bat first and set a target of 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Sheeraz Ahmad Wani displayed exceptional batting prowess, scoring a brilliant 71 runs off 51 balls. However, Anantnag’s bowlers, led by Shabir Ahmad, proved to be a significant challenge for Kulgam. Shabir Ahmad took three crucial wickets in four overs, conceding just 13 runs, while Javaid Ahmad claimed two wickets, giving away 27 runs in his four overs.
Chasing the target, Anantnag put up a determined effort, securing victory with six wickets in hand and just 17.03 overs. Ashiq emerged as the standout performer during the run chase, scoring an unbeaten 32 runs, while Shahid Peer contributed with 31 runs (not out), and Rayees Ahmad added 24 runs to the total.
With this impressive win, Anantnag now advances to the final match where they will compete for the coveted title. Their cohesive teamwork and outstanding individual performances have made them strong contenders for the championship.
The Inter-District Provincial level cricket tournament has been an excellent platform for the staff members of the Youth Services & Sports Department to showcase their cricketing skills and camaraderie. The competitive spirit and talent displayed by the teams have added excitement to the tournament, garnering the support and enthusiasm of cricket fans across Kashmir Province.
The much-anticipated final match is set to be a thrilling encounter, as Anantnag aims to clinch the title, while their opponents will also be determined to seize the opportunity and emerge victorious. The cricket enthusiasts and supporters eagerly await the finale to witness more outstanding performances and competitive cricket at its best.
