Ganderbal, July 26: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Friday held an interactive session with the inspiring football team from Jammu and Kashmir, who achieved remarkable success in the HCL Foundation’s ‘Sports for Change’ program held in Chennai.
The session held in the V.C Room of DC Office was a celebration of the team’s commendable efforts and achievements in the tournament.
During interaction, the DC praised the team for their dedication and hard work, encouraging them to continue making a positive impact in society through sports.
The DC commended the athletes for their perseverance and commitment, which led them to emerge as runners-up in the football finals, narrowly losing to Uttar Pradesh.
The interactive session provided a platform for the team to share their experiences of playing in different conditions and the challenges they faced during the tournament.
The DC expressed his intention to improve the facilities for athletes in the district and sought suggestions from the team to achieve this goal.
He emphasized the district administration’s commitment to supporting and nurturing local talent.
It is worth mentioning that the “Sports for Change” program initiated by the HCL Foundation, aims to provide school students with opportunities to engage in sports at an advanced level.
Exceptional students can avail 100% scholarships for their further training and education, enabling them to pursue their sporting dreams without financial constraints.
The DC congratulated the team on their achievements and distributed certificates and medals that they won in Chennai. He assured the athletes of all necessary support for their progress and development.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, was also present at the meeting.
