Jammu, Nov 2, 2023: The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, hosted a Joint Hindi Workshop (Rajbhasha Karyashala) for all members of TOLIC, Jammu, today. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM and Chairman of TOLIC, Jammu, in the presence of Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, President of Rashtrabhasha Prachaar Samiti, Jammu; Dr. Sanjay K. Singh, Deputy Director of Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Jammu; and Sanjay Sharma, Secretary of TOLIC, Jammu. A total of 48 participants from various member institutes of TOLIC-014 attended the workshop.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed highlighted the importance of the workshop, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to protect and promote India’s rich linguistic heritage and maintain linguistic harmony. He appreciated the role played by TOLIC members in organizing the event and announced plans for future regional conferences to promote the Hindi language.
The workshop featured informative sessions delivered by prominent speakers. In the first session, Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma discussed the “Importance of Rajbhasha Hindi.” Dr. Rajeev Kumar Rawat, Senior Hindi Officer from IIT-Kharagpur, shared insights about the unique Memory-Based Translation Tool “Kanthasth 2.0,” recently released by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with C-DAC, Pune.
The second half of the workshop commenced with a lecture by Dr. Sharat Sharma, former Principal of Central Sanskrit University, Jammu, on “Translation Activities in Govt. Offices.” Nagender Kumar Mishra, Deputy General Manager from Engineers India Limited, Delhi, provided practical insights into Hindi implementation in government bodies and discussed the factors to consider while filling out the Questionnaire of Parliamentary Committee on Official Language during parliamentary inspections. The workshop concluded with a lecture by Dr. Priyanjan Sharma, Hindi Officer from Central University, Samba (Jammu), on the “Use of Official Language Hindi in Govt. Offices.”
Er. Abdul Rahim, Head RMBD & IST, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the significance of TOLIC, Jammu, as an organization dedicated to promoting and implementing India’s linguistic legacy. The workshop proceedings were conducted by Sanjay Sharma, Secretary of TOLIC, Jammu, and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Mayank Mishra, Hindi Translator.
