Srinagar, Apr30: Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha Sunday said that collective efforts are needed to eliminate narco-terrorism unleashed by “the neighbouring country” in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering in Jammu, before flagging off a marathon to mark the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” radio broadcast.
“People have to come forward to fight the drug menace. The younger people today have stood up against drug abuse and I am confident that our collective efforts will eliminate the narco-terrorism unleashed by the neighbouring country,” the LG said.
“We will realise the dream of drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. The prime minister has inspired the country’s youth through “Mann ki Baat” to overcome challenges and set an ambitious goal in life,” he said.
LG Sinha said the PM Modi has brought together youths from different backgrounds with the single dream of nation building. India’s greatest strength is its unity in diversity.
The eminent personalities, young achievers, sportspersons, recipients of Padma Shri and Panchayat Awards; National and UT Level awardees; Self Help Group members, citizens from across J&K UT who have been mentioned by Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, in previous editions of Mann Ki Baat were special invitees at the event.
“Mann Ki Baat is the voice of 140 crore countrymen. It echoes their aspirations, dreams, challenges, success, failure, resolve and the new beginning. Mann Ki Baat is deeply rooted in our spiritual and cultural traditions and its ideas and ideals,” he said.
The Lt Governor said the PM, through Mann Ki Baat, has established an effective and two-way communication with the citizens and made the Radio an integral part of every family.
Quoting Marshall Mchulan’s theory of ‘Medium is the Message, LG Sinha said for the first time since 1947 that the communication gap has reduced between PM and common citizens through the medium of radio.
“Dialogue is the soul of democracy. Direct communication between a statesman and citizens ensures that the foundation of democracy is strong, participation of citizens in governance is ensured and their voice is at the centre of policies,” LG Sinha said.
Man Ki Baat is the true reflection of Prime Minister’s vision of “SabkaSaath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and SabkaPrayas”. It has empowered the common man to become a key contributor in nation-building, he added.
The Lt Governor highlighted the significant role played by Mann Ki Baat program in strengthening the spirit of Unity in diversity and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
“Mann Ki Baat since the beginning of October 2014 has touched every section of society & influenced behavioral change to shape a new social revolution. It is not only a powerful radio programme but it is also a source of inspiration to realize dreams & resolve of the society,” he said.
Later LG also inaugurated a Photo Exhibition to commemorate the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
