CBTP on Silk Weaving Technology commences at JKI Silk Weaving factory Rajbagh

Srinagar, Oct 05: A Capacity Building Training (CBT) programme was started by Silk Technical Service Centre, CSTRI, Central Silk Board, Jammu at JKI Silk Weaving factory Rajbagh Srinagar.
The training program was inaugurated by Dr. Vikas Gupta, Managing Director, Jammu Kashmir Industries Ltd at the conference hall of JKI Weaving Factory, Srinagar.
The Managing Director, JKI interacted with all the weaver trainees and asked them about their introduction, experience and existing problems. He said it is a good initiative of the Central Silk Board for the development of silk business, under which the handloom and power loom weaving work is being improved.
Dr. Gupta said that this is a great opportunity to learn new things as Central Silk Board officers will come here and organize training for all the weavers in the factory campus. All the participants should come forward and suggest taking benefit from textile experts and designers with new technology, so that silk product manufacturing can be upgraded by the Jammu and Kashmir industry.
Scientist-D and Coordinator of the training program N. S. Gahlot, Silk Technical Service Centre, CSTRI, Jammu gave a brief of the objective of this training program which is to produce silk fabrics as per the market demand in Jammu and Kashmir.
Apart from 15 visiting officers, 17 men and 3 women participated in the training program on “Silk Weaving Technology”. During training program from 4th  to 13th October (10 days) skills of weavers will be enhanced, maintenance of power loom machine parts, reducing defects in silk fabric will be reduced and training course kit, weaving kit/material, will be arranged for all the 20 trainees and each trainee will be given a wage allowance/honorarium of Rs 1500.
After successful training, certificates will be issued to all trainees by the Director, Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), Central Silk Board, Bangalore.
Farid Ahmed Kohli, Development Officer (Textiles), Jammu and Kashmir Industries, Jammu; Zameer Sayeed Manager (production), Silk Factory Rajbagh Srinagar and Shahadat Hamid Khan, Deputy Director Silk Mark India Central Silk Board, Pampore along with other dignitaries, officers and employees were present in the inaugural program of this training.
A total of 30 participants including 20 trainee weavers have participated in this CBT programme.
