Baramulla: The Frozen Drung waterfall has emerged as a significant attraction for tourists in the Tangmarg area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district with thousands of national and international visitors flocking to witness the stunning spectacle of the frozen waterfall.
Mandy, a female tourist, shared with Rising Kashmir that due to the lack of snowfall in the Kashmir Valley, the frozen waterfall at Drung has become a key point of interest for those traveling to the Kashmir
“During our journey, we prioritised visiting Drung waterfall, as it was a destination we had chosen in advance when planning our trip to the Kashmir Valley,” she said.
Mandy said that they learned about Drung waterfall through news reports in the media. People from various states across India are eager to experience the Drung waterfall firsthand.
She said that tourists should visit the Kashmir Valley in every season at least once in their lives, allowing them to appreciate the region’s four distinct seasons. “The experience of traveling in the Kashmir Valley is unforgettable, as no one can easily forget the time spent there,” she said.
Pankul, another female tourist said while they had seen waterfalls in Kerala, the experience of the frozen Drung waterfall is uniquely different. She said that this was their first encounter with a frozen waterfall in Kashmir Valley. They had also come across videos of the Drung waterfall on social media, which inspired them to include it in their itinerary before arriving in the region.
“The view of the frozen waterfall has become a popular spot in the Kashmir Valley, where local visitors capture photos, videos, and reels to share on their social media platforms,” she said.
Pankul remarked that the people of the Kashmir Valley exhibit remarkable politeness, helpfulness, and friendliness, with a level of hospitality that is unparalleled in any other region of the world. This unique charm is a significant reason why tourists are drawn to the Kashmir Valley throughout the year, she said.
A tourist couple expressed that their experience in the Kashmir Valley was exceptionally beautiful compared to other trips. They had arranged a homestay near Drung Waterfall, where they planned to spend a night in front of the cascading waters.
“We have also traveled to Switzerland, but we find Kashmir to be a more beautiful destination than Switzerland. The Swiss government maintains its tourist spots well, yet the natural beauty of the Kashmir Valley sets it apart from Switzerland,” they said.
While extolling the beauty of the Kashmir Valley, the couple admitted that they struggled to find words to adequately describe its splendor. They expressed a desire to write a book dedicated to the beauty of Kashmir, believing that the residents of this stunning paradise are fortunate to live in such a remarkable place, which many international tourists aspire to visit at least once in their lifetime.
“The traditions, culture, cuisine, hospitality, and beauty of Kashmir Valley are distinct, making it a unique international tourist destination. This is the first time many visitors from around the world have come to witness the frozen waterfall in the Kashmir Valley. The Drung frozen waterfall has become a popular attraction for tourists,” they added.
Additionally, another tourist noted that the Frozen Waterfall in the Drung area has become a focal point for visitors, who capture photographs and videos to share with their friends and family.
