Srinagar, Jan 24: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has praised the initiative taken by Kashmir’s prominent Ulema representatives, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to travel to New Delhi and meet with the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee to raise their serious concerns about the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill.
In his statement, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “It is a matter of great satisfaction that Kashmir’s Ulema representatives, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, traveled to New Delhi to meet with, the chairperson of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, to voice their profound concerns regarding the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill.”
Terming the Ulema’s imitative as bold and pragmatic step, Apni Party leader said, “The Ulema have expressed their concerns about the proposed amendments in clear terms. By presenting their arguments both verbally and in writing, they have ensured that their position is conveyed without ambiguity. It was essential to take such a bold and pragmatic step to voice the community’s concerns. Also, their efforts show the importance of engaging in decision-making processes to raise objections on critical matters.”
He went on to say, “Although it remains uncertain how the situation will unfold regarding the proposed amendment bill, the Kashmiri Ulema have played a significant role by taking this proactive initiative.”
