Budgam, Mar 23: In a significant operation, Budgam Police carried out extensive raids across multiple locations in the district as part of an ongoing investigation into cases linked to proscribed organisations.
An official spokesperson confirmed that the raids were conducted in connection with FIR Nos. 08/2024, 09/2024, and 87/2024, which were registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). These cases pertain to the activities of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muslim League, and Peoples Freedom League—organizations that were officially banned in 2024.
The searches focused on the residences and premises of suspected overground workers (OGWs) and individuals with ties to these proscribed groups. The targeted villages included Daharmuna, Warpora, Badran, Kawoosa Khalisa, and Buzgoo. Authorities stressed that the operation was conducted meticulously in an effort to uncover any evidence related to unlawful activities.
Additionally, the police recalled previous searches at the head office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, located in the Milli Trust building in Hyderpora. These raids had resulted in the recovery of incriminating materials.
