Budgam Hosts Provincial Volleyball Championship

Srinagar, July 19: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Budgam launched the Inter-District Provincial Level Volleyball Championship for boys across all age groups at the Sports Stadium, Chrar-e-Sharief. This high-spirited sporting event has drawn participation from ten districts of Kashmir Division, showcasing the region’s budding volleyball talent.A statement issued here said that the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the championship. In his address, Dr Bhat emphasised the vital role of sports in fostering a healthy lifestyle and steering youth away from negative influences. He assured the young athletes that the district administration remains firmly committed to enhancing the local sports infrastructure. Adding a motivational spark to the day, Dr Bhat not only interacted warmly with players from various districts but also participated in the inaugural match himself—an encouraging gesture that uplifted the morale of all present. The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, SDM Chadoora, Chief Planning Officer, Tehsildar and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ghulam Hassan Lone. The DYSS Budgam reiterated its ongoing commitment to fostering youth engagement in sports and ensuring equitable opportunities for both boys and girls across the district.
