Leh, April 24: As winter’s icy grip relinquishes, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) showcased its indomitable spirit in reopening crucial lifelines.
Battling nature’s fury, the BRO spearheaded a herculean effort to clear snow-clogged highways, enabling vital connectivity in the remote regions of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
In a synchronized operation under Project HIMANK and Project Deepak, BRO’s 111 RCC/753 BRTF and 70 RCC/38 BRTF teams relentlessly plowed through treacherous terrains from November till now. With precision and grit, these teams conquered towering passes like Baralacha La, Nakee La, Lachung La, and Tanglang La, reclaiming the roads from winter’s icy embrace.
Amidst cheers and gratitude, a symbolic ‘Golden Handshake’ marked the convergence of the valiant teams at Sarchu, the inter-project boundary. With a local child cutting the ribbon, the highway was ceremoniously declared open, ushering hope and connectivity for the region’s populace.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed officials, including Col Amit Sakhre and Col KS Lavana from Project Himank, Chief Engineer Navin Kumar from Project Deepak, alongside civil administration representatives from Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
The unwavering dedication of the BRO, lauded by security forces, civil administration, and locals alike, exemplifies their commitment to the nation. Under the visionary leadership of DGBR Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, VSM, and ADGBR(NW) Sh Harendra Kumar, AVSM, VSM, BRO continues to uphold its motto of “Nation First, Always First,” embodying the ethos of relentless determination and service.
