Jammu, Feb 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command is set to implement crucial organisational changes in its Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) unit and has sought recommendations from party leaders in the Union Territory (UT).
Highly placed sources informed Rising Kashmir that the BJP leadership has directed the J&K unit to submit a complete list of district presidents, mandal presidents and the UT-level team in preparation for the restructuring.
Following the recent internal elections, Sat Sharma was elected as the J&K BJP President. However, party insiders indicate that a complete overhaul of the existing team is in the works, as per BJP’s established practice of appointing a fresh leadership team after a new president takes charge.
Sources confirmed that the BJP high command has asked for a proposed list of new district presidents and core team members for J&K. The J&K BJP is expected to finalise and submit this list within the next few days.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and ex-J&K BJP President Dr Nirmal Singh confirmed that the final decision on the party’s new organisational structure in J&K—right from the mandal to the UT level—will be made by the BJP high command.
Sources also said that the restructuring process will be overseen by the soon-to-be-appointed National President of the party, who will take a final call on the new leadership team for J&K.
