National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the BJP must revise its attitude in Parliament.

Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters, Omar said that Agha Ruhullah had portions of his speech removed by the Speaker of the Parliament, which he believes is indicative of the suppression of opposition voices.

He said that in a democracy, everyone should have the right to speak, provided they do not use abusive or inappropriate language.

Omar further said that BJP acts as if they have 400 members in Parliament whereas their actual strength being 240.

When asked about the possibility of assembly elections in J&K this year, Omar said that during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir, he assured that elections would be held soon and that the people would have the chance to elect their government.

He added that both the Election Commission and the Home Minister have indicated that elections will occur within the timeframe set by the Supreme Court.

Omar said that the National Conference is ready for the elections and remains hopeful for a favorable outcome.

Regarding the National Conference’s alliance with the INDIA bloc for the assembly elections, Omar said that this decision would be made by the Party President.

Addressing a question about the meeting of the National Conference, Omar said that the National Conference Working Committee held a meeting to strengthen the party and prepare for the upcoming elections.

The committee discussed various concerns, including arrests, misuse of law, rising electricity bills, food prices, and the overall harassment of people in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.(KNS)
