Srinagar, Jan 04: BJP’s District President Ashok Bhat on Wednesday visited waste dumping site Achan area of Saidora to listen to the public grievances.
An official spokesperson said a huge gathering of people was waiting outside Achan garbage dumping site of SMC Srinagar. They took Ashok Bhat inside the dumping site in a procession and highlighted the miseries faced by the local public due to this dumping site.
While inspecting the site it was found that except depositing garbage at the site daily, no other activity is going on there. “The solid waste is being managed unscientifically. The segregator/treatment plant is out of order, the Leachared plant is non functional,” locals informed the BJP leader.
“With the result, contaminated and polluted water is coming out of the site which goes to the fields of the locality and water bodies like Anchar Lake, etc”.
The BJP leader gave patient hearing to the people and assured that he will communicate the same to the concerned authorities and will follow the issue till their grievances are redressed.
