Panipat, Dec 11: Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Front national president Jamal Siddiqui on Wednesday said the BJP is committed to the preservation of Sufi heritage.
“No government has prioritised Sufis like the BJP. Bringing them together on one platform and safeguarding their legacy is our resolution,” he said at the 745th annual Urs of Shah Vilayat Khwaja Shamsuddin Turk Panipati which commenced on Wednesday with thousands of devotees offering chadar and prayers at the revered shrine. The event was marked by the arrival of the Sabri flag from Sabir Pak’s Dargah in Kaliyar Sharif, received at the main gate by Jamal Siddiqui, National President of BJP Minority Front, accompanied by devotees.
Siddiqui praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reverence for Sufi ideology, saying, “The Prime Minister sees Sufism as a beacon of light in a world plagued by violence. Sufism embodies the soul of Islam, a religion of peace.”
The grand ceremony took place under the patronage of Syed Meraj Hussain Sabri, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh in-charge of the “Sufi Samvad” Maha Abhiyan, and the Sajjadanashin of Sabir Pak Dargah. The occasion was a blend of devotion and community dialogue, with Jamal Siddiqui engaging with Sufi leaders, scholars, and intellectuals from across the country under the “Sufi Samvad” initiative. Prayers were offered for global peace and harmony.
Speaking at the event, Jamal Siddiqui highlighted the significance of the “Sufi Samvad” Maha Abhiyan, an initiative launched by BJP Minority Front on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The campaign has been welcomed wholeheartedly by the Sufi community. Through this effort, we aim to bring the concerns of Dargahs to the government and strengthen the unity of the nation,” he said.
Shah Vilayat Khwaja Shamsuddin Turk, a prominent Sufi saint and the sole Khalifa of Hazrat Syed Alauddin Ahmed Sabir Pak, is revered for starting the Sabri Silsila and spreading its teachings. The annual Urs is a significant occasion for followers of the Sabri order.
Faisal Mumtaz, National Co-Media In-charge of BJP Minority Front, said that the Sabri flag, an important symbol of the occasion, was brought on foot from Kaliyar Sharif Dargah via Roorkee, Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Kairana, and ceremoniously received by Jamal Siddiqui.
Prominent attendees included Chaudhary Zakir Hussain, National Vice President of BJP Minority Front and Administrator of Haryana Waqf Board, Dr Aslam Fahim Sefi, National Incharge of Sufi Samvad Abhiyan, Sikandar Salmani, S.M. Akram, and other office bearers.
The Urs continues to serve as a spiritual and cultural milestone, drawing people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the message of unity and harmony propagated by the Sufi saints.
