Jammu, Sep 28: Former minister and Additional General Secretary JKNC, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Thursday accused the BJP of betraying the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party made tall claims and promised the people of “Achche Din” under their rule but they ruined everything and now people are feeling suffocated under the present regime, he said while addressing a public meeting organized by JKNC Central Zone at Janipur.
Sadhotra was the chief guest on the occasion. The meeting was presided over by former minister and president, JKNC Central Zone, Babu Rampaul.  The meeting was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma, Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Jammu) and Rajinder Kumar.
On the occasion, the NC leader said, “BJP made several promises with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and gave them a dream of a golden era. They promised jobs, development, corruption-free governance and many more things. The innocent people trusted the words of BJP leadership and were given a huge mandate with the hope of a turnaround in their lives. But now their tall claims stand exposed. Now, people have realized that it was nothing but a gimmick of the BJP to grab power, he said and added that the BJP was making policies and programmes only to help the rich and affluent people gain more and more wealth, and poor and downtrodden were being made resource less.”
Sadhotra added, “BJP indulged in just Jumlebaazi to befool the masses for political gains but in reality, this party has nothing to do with the poor masses. Come elections and the BJP starts making “Jumlebaazi” to divert the attention of the nation from important issues related to the poor masses. The party snatched the statehood of Jammu & Kashmir and promised its people a golden era but now everything stands exposed.”
Speaking on the Women’s Reservation Bill, the NC leader said, “This too was a political gimmick to garner the votes of women. If BJP was really serious on granting political reservation to women it would have implemented the same with immediate effect but they imposed several conditions which make it impossible for Reservation Women to become reality before 2029.”
He reminded the people of the National Conference era when Sher-e-Kashmir introduced the historic Land Reforms Act and gave land to the landless and made them owners of the land which they only used till.
Sadhotra urged the people to “strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah so that NC could once again form a popular government in J&K and mitigate the sufferings of poor masses”.
Babu Rampaul in his address severely criticized the present dispensation and said, “BJP robbed everything from people of J&K. Post August 5, 2019, the rights and resources of people have been snatched and they have been left on the mercy of God.” He said nobody listens to the people and they are made subservient to bureaucrats.
