Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office organized Jewellers Awareness Program at Hotel Four Points, Srinagar on 31 August 2023.The program started with welcome address by Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director BIS JKBO. Later Sh. Niraj Mishra, Assistant Director delivered a detailed presentation with respect to the BIS regulation on Hallmarking, process of hallmarking and recent amendments and changes. The program was attended by the President of AKGDWA Sh. Bashir Ahmed Rather and over 60 jewellers of Srinagar Region.
Jewellers were also apprised of the use of BIS Care app and how to check the genuineness of HUID, ISI Mark through BIS Care App. The jewellers appreciated BIS initiatives and requested BIS to organize more such awareness Programs.
The discussion was followed by question and answer session wherein various queries of the jewellers were answered by BIS officials. The jewellers had many apprehensions and doubts which were suitably addressed. The jewellers have been told to send their suggestions to BIS so as to have a closed working association with BIS.
