Rajouri, Oct 01: As a part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2023 campaign themed ‘Garbage-Free India’, the NSS & SBA units of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) organised a mega cleanliness drive and an oath ceremony in the campus.
A large number of staff members and students participated in the Shramdaan, contributing voluntary labour to SBM activities on the university campus, the BGSBU said in a press release.
Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of the university, said that taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for Swachhata, the BGSBU fraternity has collectively and with determination participated in this nationwide campaign Swachhata Hi Seva 2023.
He congratulated the participants for being part of this “momentous” event and said this campaign has reignited the spirit of voluntarism and community participation among the masses.
The cleanliness drive led by the registrar of the university Mohd Ishaq began from the Girls Hostel and culminated at Sabrang Square.
On the occasion, a Swachhata pledge was administered by the NSS programme officer of the university Dr Parvez Abdullah to the participants that focused on one’s commitment towards cleanliness, devoting a hundred hours per year for cleanliness and propagating the message of Swachh Bharat Mission, the university said.
