Ganderbal, Jan 21: Despite being surrounded by areas with robust mobile network services, the remote village of Bara Daryadin in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district continues to struggle without proper mobile connectivity. This lack of network access persists despite the village’s significant population and the presence of a revered shrine, Baba Darya Din (R.A) which attracts hundreds of devotees daily.
The shrine, managed by the Waqf Board, is a major spiritual and cultural hub. However, the absence of mobile connectivity has become a growing concern for both the villagers and visitors.
“Despite having this important shrine in our village, we are still without network connectivity. Whenever we try to make a call or use the internet, our phones show ‘network failed,’” said a local resident.
Villagers lament that while much of the country enjoys the benefits of 5G networks, Bara Daryadin is left in a technological void. Students preparing for competitive exams are among those most affected, as they cannot access online resources crucial for their studies.
“This is a digital age, but our village seems stuck in the past. Whenever an incident occurs, we are forced to waste time searching for a signal to make urgent calls. It’s incredibly frustrating,” said a group of locals.
Despite repeated pleas to telecommunications companies, their requests for network infrastructure have fallen on deaf ears. The villagers expressed their hope that the issue will now be taken on a priority basis, urging telecom providers to address their concerns without further delay.
