Bandipora, Dec 21: An innovator from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district along with his three students has invented a solar heating jacket to prevent pipes from freezing and bursting during the cold-weather months.
Jahangir Arshid Bhat, founder and owner of the institute named “Kashovatics” along with his three students – Ifshana, Mehak and Shazia – invented a solar-powered anti-freezing jacket for water pipes which will prevent them from freezing or bursting in winter.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Jahangir said the freezing of water pipes has been a prolonged concern in Kashmir in winter.
To address the issue, Jahangir said he along with his students started efforts to find a solution and after dedicating 12 hours daily to their work, they ultimately achieved success in creating this jacket within a span of twenty days.
The jacket works on the principle of a uniform heating system and ensures stability and cold resistance, particularly in the minus temperature, he said.
His team’s inventive approach aligns with the principles of sustainability and addresses a common concern faced by people especially in Kashmir during winter. It will ensure that water pipes remain functional and resilient throughout the winter season, Jahangir said.
Ifshana, one of the students, said their aim was to develop a solution that could keep pipes warm during winter and eliminate the common problem of freezing.
“We successfully created a solution that not only leverages solar power but can also operate on an inverter power supply due to its low power consumption”, she said.
The invention will prove as a relief for those grappling with the challenges of winter chill as it will ensure that outdoor water pipes remain functional and intact, she added.
Notably, Jahangir, a 27-year-old youth from Bandipora is a five-time gold medal winner in innovations and inventions.
He is a graduate of Texas University of United States of America and has 20 patented innovations in his name on which he worked with his students at Kashovatics, an institution which provides a platform to students for innovations in different fields.
