Baramulla, Apr 30: Sikh community on Sunday celebrated Baisakhi with religious fervour and enthusiasm at Gurudwara Shaheed Marg Satarna Rafiabad in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Several Ragi Jathas from the district attended the event and performed Kirtan.
Chairman Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee Advocate Onkar Singh Shaheed Marg Satarna, greeted the people on the occasion and hoped that the festival would be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the world. President GPC Shaheed Marg PP Singh also greeted the people and welcomed the devotees who had come from far-flung areas.
“Every year, we celebrate this festival with enthusiasm and brotherhood. It gives the message of peace and affection between every community of Kashmir. We spend our day visiting Gurudwara with our family,” Tandeep Kour, a devotee, said.
Several stalls were organised by the Gurudwara management for the devotees. Langar was also served to the devotees.
“After Baisakhi, we celebrate the festival at different historical Gurudwaras for four to five consecutive Sundays,” Gurnaam Singh, senior Ragi, said.
Baisakhi is observed to observe the 324th year of the foundation of Khalsa Panth by the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
