SRINAGAR, NOV 19
In the latest episode of the ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ programme, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration’s commitment to advancing inclusive development, echoing the ideals of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Quoting Dr. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Lt. Governor Sinha underscored the essence of social democracy, rooted in the acknowledgment of liberty, equality, and fraternity as fundamental life principles. He applauded the significant strides achieved in the past nine years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with 13.5 crore people lifted out of multidimensional poverty.
Drawing attention to the transformative ‘Back to Village’ campaign, an innovative initiative by the UT Administration, Lt. Governor Sinha emphasized its goal to rejuvenate rural socio-economic systems, making villages pivotal to J&K’s development. The campaign sends a powerful message, asserting that many challenges can be effectively addressed through collective participation and mutual cooperation.
Lt. Governor Sinha shared narratives of progressive farmers, spotlighting individuals such as Bandna Devi, who transitioned from maize to marigold farming, symbolizing women’s empowerment in Malothi village. He also commended Sunita Devi for successfully transforming her land into an integrated farm in Basohli, and Shafeeqa Shora in Ganderbal, who initiated a dairy unit, inspiring women in the region.
In acknowledging success stories, Lt. Governor Sinha praised Pushpinder Singh for spearheading agricultural reforms in Kartholi Block, Samba, and Zahoor Ahmad for achieving success in cultivating premium Mushkbudji rice using hydroponics in Kulgam district.
During the programme, Lt. Governor Sinha addressed public suggestions, ranging from concerns for senior citizens to advocating for the organization of youth parliaments and the integration of ethics, civics, and critical thinking in educational curricula. He also expressed gratitude for recommendations on recognizing young talents and ensuring the success of Yuva Utsav.
The Lt. Governor took a moment to extend congratulations to Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar for their stellar performance in the recently concluded Asian Para Games. He encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from these exemplary achievements, closing the program with a call for sustained efforts towards inclusive development and collective participation.
